Exhilarating and dispiriting, thrilling and embarrassing, joyous and depressing — no activity on Earth encompasses the full emotional spectrum like golf — and that’s why we love it. Today, celebrate National Golf Lovers Day by recognizing one of the world’s most popular sports. Golf clap for our Bulldog golfers, hit the links and play a round as you enjoy a few competitive and friendly laughs with your fellow golf fans.

Join us for an Introduction to Trap Shooting! Calling all 5th-12th graders curious about this sport. Come out and learn a little about trap shooting before the season starts. Tuesday, October 10th, at 6:00 pm in the elementary cafeteria. See you there!

In 1974, the International Music Council declared that International Music Day would be celebrated on October 1 every year. You can celebrate this day even if you don’t play music by actively appreciating and enjoying the power of music in bringing people together, like attending and supporting our Bald Knob choirs at today's fall choir concert.

Today is National Family Health & Fitness Day, a time dedicated to promoting physical activity, healthy habits, and overall wellness for families across the country. The day is an opportunity for families to come together and prioritize their health and well-being. Physical activity is an important component of overall health and wellness. Regular exercise can help improve cardiovascular health, strengthen muscles and bones, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. It can also improve mood, reduce stress, and enhance overall quality of life. National Family Health and Fitness Day USA provides an opportunity for families to engage in physical activity together. This can include going for a walk or hike, playing sports, or participating in group fitness classes. By making physical activity a family activity, parents can model healthy habits for their children and instill a love of exercise and activity from an early age. In addition to physical activity, National Family Health and Fitness Day USA also encourages families to prioritize other aspects of wellness, such as healthy eating habits and mental health. Families can prepare and enjoy healthy meals together, take time for relaxation and self-care, and prioritize getting enough sleep.

Bald Knob Public Schools was thrilled to partner with Harding University, Carr College of Nursing, this week to perform vision and hearing screenings for our students this year. As required by law, all students in grades K, 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 are screened. In addition, any student who is new to the district, holds an IEP, or receives dyslexia services are also screened. During our mass screening dates, we performed a total of 558 vision and 537 hearing screenings. While additional students will be screened due to absences and re-screenings, we are so thankful for this partnership that provides additional support to screen our students every year - ultimately helping us meet the needs of our students. Many thanks to Harding University, Carr College of Nursing! #EveryMinuteEveryStudentEveryDay

Reminder: The Flu Clinic is Wednesday, October 4th. Flu forms have gone home, and they are due back tomorrow. Here is a link to the form if you need a copy: https://bit.ly/46fmNOs

Through the coordination of BKPS's Director of Health Services, Nurse Andrea Mason, BKPS recently partnered with the White County Health Department to provide a vaccine clinic for our students that were still needing the required school vaccines. This year thirty-one (31) students participated in our vaccine clinic! The vaccine clinic greatly reduced the number of students that are still lacking vaccines. The benefits of this opportunity are HUGE: (1) parents save personal time off at work in order to take their child to a clinic and (2) students do not miss class when this option is chosen. Immunizations offered through this clinic were Tdap, which is needed after 11 years old, and MCV4, which is needed in 7th grade and again after turning 16. A complete list of school required vaccines can be found at https://www.healthy.arkansas.gov/images/uploads/rules/ImmunizationRequirements.pdf. Many thanks to Nurse Andrea Mason and the White County Health Department for ensuring compliance with vaccine requirements!

Each month the district administration team is selecting one staff member and/or team to receive the B.U.L.L.D.O.G. Award. The award is given to those individuals who live true to standard of the acronym in words, action, and countenance: Bulldogs’ Unwavering Learning Leadership and Dedication to Outstanding Goals.
The first individuals to be recognized with this award are the FIRST GRADE TEAM: Canessa Jones (Team Leader), Cassie Cooley, Stasie Bell, Joni Kaminski and Courtney Holt. This team is “all in” on collaborating around student learning and creating actionable plans to see their students grow. Students are not just the homeroom teacher’s student - every student is “their” student.
Many thanks to these teacher leaders for representing our mission in action - making every minute count for every student every day!
