The Arkansas Department of Education recently released the 2022 Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Index Scores and Letter Grade reports.
Schools are assigned an Overall Index Score determined from weighted achievement, school value-added growth, and the School Quality Success Score (SQSS). The levels of assigned scores are based on grade configuration.
The weighted achievement scores are based on student performance for the tested year (in this case, 2021-22 school year). Growth scores are based on a comparison of student growth from the previous school year. The SQSS measures many factors, including absentee rate. Schools are assigned a letter grade (A, B, C, D, F) to correlate with the Overall Index Score.
Schools on the Move Toward Excellence recognizes Arkansas schools who make significant progress on their Public School Ratings and ESSA School Index Reports. Each year, schools are identified for various aspects of improvement: increased by one letter grade, increased the overall ESSA School Index Score by 5 points or more, weighted achievement increase of 10 points or more, 2 standard deviations above the mean in value-added growth. Congratulations to Bald Knob Middle School and Bald Knob High School for for their efforts to improve student performance!
We know our schools are more than a letter grade. We work hard to meet students' academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs. Every Minute. Every Student. Every Day.
